Employers

Regardless of the size of your business, finding employees with the right skills is not always easy. Taking on a young person aged 16–24 as an apprentice gives you the chance to develop the skilled staff you need.

What we provide to you:

  • A wide range of motivated and ambitious young people looking for experience in your trade.
  • Full support with government backing.

What's good about Apprenticeships?

  • A young person can add real value and contribution to your business, improving productivity.
  • Apprentices are keen to learn, far more likely to remain loyal and are better motivated.
  • They help you stay competitive by developing the kind of people your business needs for the future and help you avoid skills shortages.
  • Apprentices learn through a combination of on-and off-the-job education and training. On the job they work alongside your staff and the rest they learn from us.
  • Offering a fantastic range of training in 80 different sectors of industry, apprenticeships cover a huge range of subjects from health and social care to business administration.

At 5Cs Training we offer two levels of qualification:

  • Apprenticeship (a Level 2 qualification), lasting for at least one year and suitable for those just starting out and looking for their first step into their chosen field.
  • Advanced Apprenticeship (a Level 3 qualification), lasting for at least two years, suitable for those already qualified to Level 2 and wishing to become fully qualified in their chosen area.

Each qualification is built round a Framework consisting of three parts which need to be achieved in order to gain a full Apprenticeship Certificate.

They are:

  • NVQ (Level 2 or 3, depending on the qualification being undertaken – the practical part of the job)
  • Technical Certificate (the knowledge you need to do the job)
  • Key Skills in Application of Numeracy and Communication.

Case Study

Shen Gordon decided that he wanted to achieve a recognised apprenticeship within the plumbing industry. He subsequently found employment with SPI of Chasettown and joined 5Cs Training to undertake a Foundation Apprenticeship. He gained his Level 2 qualification in six months and progressed on to the Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3, where he achieved this both in the workplace and at college. Both qualifications were completed in two years and two months through sheer hard work.

Shen has been a model apprentice and is an example of what can be achieved not only through hard work and perseverance, but also with a supportive business and the right training behind him. He is now considering supervisory training.
